The idea of The Alternative Morocco cultural and solidarity tourism came to us while travelling the world’s remote landscapes and connecting with its native communities. Our journeys far and wide inspired us to create a different, alternative experience of tourism in Morocco, a journey of learning, discovery and mutual respect. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Travel, the natural environment, local communities & their traditions have always been at the centre of our lives and work. With our experience working in the tourism industry, we’ve realized that today’s tourism does not often satisfy the curiosity of travellers and causes a negative impact on local communities and the natural environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through The Alternative Morocco Project and Journeys, we aim to create authentic cross-cultural connections, a sustainable environment that develops enriching cultural exchanges, mindful interactions, and a deep sense of connection between local communities, travellers, and nature.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Our Cultural & Solidarity projects focus on slow, conscious exploring where fair cultural exchange and mutual respect are at the center. Our philosophy is to give back to local communities in places we visit to enrich lives and protect the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our project gives you a unique opportunity to settle into local communities’<\/strong> way of life and fully contribute to the local economy. Through active participation, both locals and travellers gain a better understanding of their cultural differences, lifestyle, traditional knowledge, and beliefs.<\/p>\n<\/div>

How Does It Work<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Whether you\u2019re a solo traveller or a group, our cultural and solidarity tourism project takes you to the southeastern Morocco.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inhabited by native Imazighen, Imider is a remote village in the desert surrounded by the High and Anti-Atlas Mountains. You will be greeted by a local Amazigh family and taken to your accommodation \u2013 a private sleeping room in a traditional Amazigh earth clay house built at the feet of the mountain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout your stay, you\u2019ll discover the beautiful mountainous area, visit local communities and artisans, nomads, and share traditional meals, ancestral rituals, and activities.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

As a part of our cultural tourism project, you have a unique opportunity to fully engage in various daily activities such as farming local fields, picking fruits, cooking traditional meals, or learning the ancient craft of weaving carpets. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our cultural exchange also enables our guests to share their culture and skills with local residents. Igniting creativity in children, teaching a different language, or how to play a music instrument strongly benefits local communities, broadens their horizons, and makes your adventure vacation truly rich and unforgettable.<\/p>\n<\/div>

We believe that healthy interactions between local hosts and visiting guests create a better cultural and environmental understanding. Through our cultural project and ecotourism, we also help to raise awareness of environmental issues in various regions in Morocco. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through sustainable practices, education, and creating alternative sources of employment, the responsible tourism we promote impacts positively the lives of local people and reduces environmental issues such as desertification and deforestation.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Alternative Morocco also ensures that local communities benefit more directly from our tourism. By contributing 20% of our profit to local communities, we provide them with educational supplies, and daily necessities and support them in developing responsible, effective practices to protect the environment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Part of the profit from The Alternative Morocco tours is also set aside for future projects such as local cultural centre, sporting areas, and various environmental projects (reforestation, sustainable waste management) that will benefit Imider and surrounding communities as a whole. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
