Our workshop will take you through the first steps of learning, practice, and methods used by the calligraphy masters. Discover the old handwriting systems that still continue to be used today and been passed down through generations.
This unique workshop includes an introduction and materials used by calligraphers in the old Islamic traditions, writing the Arabic alphabet, and exploring the ancient methods used in learning this ancient art.
Our local calligraphy teacher will provide all the essential equipment and finest examples of Islamic manuscripts as well as support throughout the workshop.

∴ The workshop takes place in the old Marrakech Medina. Please arrive at least 15 minutes prior to the booking time.
∴ Meet our local calligraphy teacher who will then introduce you to the history of this ancient handwriting art and prepare you for the workshop.
∴ Islamic calligraphy is an artistic practice of handwriting based on the alphabet in the lands sharing a common Islamic cultural heritage. It includes Arabic Calligraphy, Ottoman, and Persian calligraphy. It is known in Arabic as khatt Islami meaning Islamic line, design, or construction.
∴ The art of Islamic Calligraphy is lifelong learning. It is a journey where you don’t just learn how to write letters, but you learn patience, humility, and self-discipline.

The art of calligraphy is an ancient art and lifelong learning, often not so popular in rural areas. We currently offer calligraphy workshops in Marrakech, Fes, Rabat and Essaouira. Contact us for more information.
