Jarjeer is a sanctuary for old, abandoned and mistreated animals. Founded by Susan Machin and Charles Hantom, the refuge is run with the help of the local community, provide an income for local families and care for animals and the surrounding area.
As well as spending the day among sanctuary animals, visitors can also relax at the refuge cafe with light refreshments and beautiful views of the Atlas Mountains.

∴ Our driver will pick you up from your accommodation at the chosen time. The sanctuary is located an hour drive from Marrakech, at the foothills of The Atlas Mountains.
∴ At the refuge, you’ll have a chance to spend time with all lovely animals, learn about their behaviour and see how dedicated staff of local people take care of the animals daily. The sanctuary is home to many rescued animals and all of them are friendly and always very happy to see visitors.
∴ Jarjeer is in the progress of building more stables for mules and donkeys. Public visits are important to raise awareness and funds for various projects around the sanctuary as well as provide job opportunities for local communities taking care of animals and the surrounding areas.
∴ After a visit, enjoy a glass of traditional tea at the refuge café with beautiful views of the Atlas Mountains.
