Our private 1 day trip to Essaouira is a great way to escape big bustling cities, relax at the beautiful Atlantic coast and artistic boho cafes and get to know the history of the Moroccan most famous seaport.
Known as the ‘small fortress’ in the Tamazight language, Essaouira is an exceptional example of a late 18th-century fortified town listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site. Since its foundation, it has been a major international trading seaport, linking Morocco and Sub-Saharan Africa with Europe and the rest of the world. Home to traditional Gnawa music and argan oil, the town is also an example of a multicultural centre as proven by the coexistence of diverse religious ethnic groups, such as the Amazighs, Arabs, Africans and Europeans.
Today is known for Jimi Hendrix’s favourite spot, Essaouira’s hippy and laid back vibe with its artistic touch attract travellers from around the world. Essaouira is also famous for surfing, film sets (Games of Thrones, John Wick) as well as cuisine. Fresh Atlantic fish and seafood at the local restaurants is a must-do when visiting Essaouira.
